Traditional Skeleton Sustained-Release Tablet Case

Publish Time: 2025-05-15

In 2018, I was invited to negotiate cooperation with a company in Shantou, Guangdong. Produce sustained-release tablets. The company's dietary supplement exports ranked among the top three in China

I had a discussion with the R&D department of the other company and learned a situation. Foreign merchants placed an order for ferrous sulfate sustained-release tablets with them. The R&D department passed the small test, but the production department produced an unqualified release curve. The R&D department adjusted the plan again, the small test passed, and the production failed again. When I went there, it had been repeated for more than 3 months, and qualified products could not be produced.

Comment: This is the main disadvantage of the skeleton sustained-release technology route. The release curve is affected by many factors such as the particle size, shape, size, and tablet hardness of the material. It is often possible to do a small test, but it is easy to have problems when scaling up production. Moreover, many influencing factors are determined by the experience of front-line production workers. Sometimes, if the production workers are changed, the products produced with the same formula and parameters may not be qualified. Moreover, if an order fails, it is difficult to rework and produce qualified products. The scrap rate is very high, especially in the early stage of trial production of new products. Or when the same product has not been produced for a long time, the scrap rate of the first few batches is high.

Moreover, the development cycle of new products is particularly long!

Failed to cooperate with Guangdong Shantou Company. We proposed that we would list more materials for the sustained-release coating film without writing the proportion or model. The other party required that we must truthfully state the specific proportion and model of the materials used. For confidentiality reasons, we took the initiative to give up cooperation.
